Nuclear Energy Opinion Poll

A poll of “Plant Neighbors” recently published by Environmental Leader, shows that only “affordable energy” has increased as an issue respondents say they associate with “a lot”. The number rose from 50% to 54%. All other poll issues (Efficiency, Reliability, Clean Air and Climate Change Solution) saw a decline, with the largest percentage drop (from 72 to 62) in Reliability.

The U.S. Congress has extended a tax credit program fornew geothermal projects through 2016, and while geothermal energy remains less prominent than wind and solar, we should remember that it has been more than 50 years since the first power-generating project went on line in California. A significant increase in the capacity to power homes, businesses and other buildings with geothermal energy over the next 50 years is anticiated by the Geothermal Energy Association.
